THE RIVER SEINE - PARIS

 

A film by Mark Nelson for First Light Films. Original music by Mark Nelson. Thirty minutes.

 

The majestic Seine flows through Paris, the capital of France. The ancient river bears witness to the history of this magnificent city.

 

The Seine has seen the early French kings, the first Paris tribes who inhabited its banks, the rise of the Sun King, the turbulence of the French Revolution and foreign invaders.

 

The documentary is a spiritual journey, from the Arc De Triomphe to the Eiffel Tower and the modern miracle of Les Arcs.

THE RIVER THAMES - LONDON

 

A film by Mark Nelson for First Light Films. Jazz sax accompaniment by Theo Travis. Sixty minutes. 

       

This is an atmospheric river journey from the dreaming spires of Oxford, through the rural countryside of England to the architectural splendour of London. The journey ends at the magnificent Palladian Citadel of Greenwich and the Thames Barrier.

The film uses the words of famous writers like Lewis Carroll and Wordsworth. It traces the steps of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and Kenneth Grahame’s The Wind in the Willows.

THE NILE - A RIVER DIARY

​

A film by Mark Nelson for First Light Films. Thirty minutes.

​

Filmed in southern Egypt, this is a captivating journey through rural villages, felucca sailing, horse and carriage rides and the temples of Edfu, Karnak and Luxor. It captures the spirit and ancient majesty of Egypt and above all the essence of the River Nile.

​
